Duke City Fair Cancelled
Unfortunately the Duke City Fair is being forced to cancel. We have tried extremely hard to make this event happen. We are working on the full story press release to give you the details of why we had to cancel.
The quick answer is there have been very politically connected people both in Albuquerque and Santa Fe that have hindered our efforts at every turn.
These people were able to apply pressure to have city officials fabricate reasons for why the city of Albuquerque couldn't approve the Duke City Fair to set up at the Balloon Fiesta Park even though we had been given signed approval, received various city permits and spent well over $100,000 in booking attractions, advertising and entertainment.
Then in an attempt to save the event and get out of these peoples jurisdiction we moved to the lot next to the Santa Ana Star Casino which is governed by the Santa Ana Pueblo. These people went as far as to go out of their way to speak to the Police Department at the Santa Ana Pueblo and told them about the dangers and concerns an event like this would present to their community. So, after being approved by the tribes board, their Governor and given written approval to rent the Santa Ana lot the Governor of the tribe cancelled our event because of the safety concerns that were presented by these said people.
We want you to know we are very sorry for any confusion you have faced with the changing of venues and the details of this event. We also want you to know that we felt this event was going to be a huge success because of YOU, the great people of Albuquerque and the surrounding area.
